Habari Wi-Fi to Power the 9th Serengeti Safari Marathon

Habari Wi-Fi has partnered with the Serengeti Safari Marathon as the Official Connectivity Partner for the 9th edition of the event, set to take place on 14 November 2026 at Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

The partnership will see Habari Wi-Fi provide connectivity across the participants’ area, helping runners, organisers, partners and visitors stay connected throughout the event.

The 9th Serengeti Safari Marathon is expected to bring together more than 3,000 local and international participants under the theme “Unlocking the Tourism Blue-Green Economy.” The event brings together sport, tourism and conservation while showcasing the Serengeti to participants from Tanzania, East Africa and beyond.

The marathon features four race categories: the 42km Full Marathon, 21km Half Marathon, 10km Executive Run and 5km Fun Run, giving participants different ways to take part in the experience inside Serengeti National Park.

Speaking on the partnership, Simon Lee, General Manager Tanzania and Group CTIO at Habari Wi-Fi, said:

“The Serengeti Marathon matters because it embodies a lot of the principles which we stand by. We focus on rural and peri-urban areas, and we specialise in connecting places that are not easy to connect, such as the Serengeti. Our aim for this Serengeti Marathon is to provide Wi-Fi coverage across the whole participants’ area.”

The partnership reflects Habari Wi-Fi’s focus on extending reliable connectivity to areas where access can be challenging. By providing Wi-Fi during the marathon, Habari will support communication and digital engagement among participants, organisers, partners, and visitors throughout the event.

The Serengeti Safari Marathon also supports conservation and community development, with part of the proceeds from registered runners contributing to conservation initiatives in the Serengeti.

The partnership adds to Habari Wi-Fi’s involvement in sporting events across Tanzania. Earlier this year, Habari Wi-Fi was the Official Connectivity Partner for the Tanzania Junior Open in Morogoro and also supported the Kilimanjaro Trails Festival, providing connectivity for participants and supporting digital requirements such as registration and race timing.

Participants who successfully registered for the cancelled 2025 Serengeti Safari Marathon are eligible to participate in the 2026 edition at no additional registration fee, subject to reconfirming their participation with the organisers.
